Lumina Foundation

Lumina Foundation Open link in a new tab is committed to making opportunities for learning beyond high school available to all. Lumina envisions a system that is easy to navigate, delivers fair results, and meets the nation’s need for talent through a broad range of credentials. Lumina has provided funding to edX to support the creation and delivery of MicroMasters certificate programs.

Laura and John Arnold Foundation

The Laura and John Arnold Foundation Open link in a new tab provided a generous grant to support the development of the edX platform and increase the number of high-quality courses available to learners. Their gift has helped fund the High School Initiative, DavidsonNEXT and more.

Modern States

Modern States Open link in a new tab, founded by Steven Klinsky, is working with edX to help more students enter or return to the traditional college system and to make quality education more accessible. Through a generous gift from the family of Steven Klinsky, edX will add to its current suite of AP* and introductory college-level courses currently offered on its platform. These additional courses will ensure that every major subject covered by a College Board Advanced Placement* or CLEP* exam will be offered on edX.org.

LaunchCode

LaunchCode Open link in a new tab creates pathways to economic opportunity and upward mobility through online learning, apprenticeships and job placement in technology. LaunchCode uses the HarvardX Introduction to Computer Science CS50 as its flagship course to help learners develop computer science skills to land a job in technology.

Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Open link in a new tab provided funding to help develop edX courses as well as partner with community colleges to experiment with the use of the courses in a "flipped classroom." EdX and The Gates Foundation are committed to innovations in online and on-campus learning for these colleges around the country

Walmart Foundation

With Walmart's Open link in a new tab support, edX is designing and developing its new MicroBachelors™ program. This support reflects the Walmart's commitment to creating a stronger learning and training ecosystem by supporting innovation in higher education. Walmart aims to make education more accessible and affordable for working adults, so they may further advance their careers.

Truist Foundation

Truist Foundation Open link in a new tab provided a generous grant to help forward the mission of edX ensuring that millions of learners will have access to the affordable, high quality, skills-based educational programs necessary to achieve professional mobility and financial stability in their own lives.

Yidan Prize

Founded in 2016 by Dr Charles CHEN Yidan, the Yidan Prize Open link in a new tab's mission is to create a better world through education. In 2018, edX CEO and MIT Professor Anant Agarwal was awarded the Yidan Prize for Education Development. The Yidan Prize Foundation is an initial funder of edX's MicroBachelors Programs.

Boeing

Boeing provided a generous grant to fund the development of MicroBachelors Programs and forward the mission of edX ensuring that millions of learners will have access to the affordable, high quality, skills-based educational programs necessary to achieve professional mobility and financial stability in their own lives.

American Student Assistance®

American Student Assistance® (ASA), a national nonprofit dedicated to helping students make informed choices about their education and career goals, provided a generous grant to fund the development of MicroBachelors Programs. This will ensure that millions of students have access to an affordable, credit-backed pathway to a Bachelor’s degree, and job-readiness skills for those who wish to pursue in-demand, well-paying middle skills careers. Students who pursue these programs will be taking meaningful steps toward finding their paths and planning for their futures.
