Curriculum

The online BSc in finance programme from the University of London equips you with a versatile and practical understanding of financial behaviour, markets and decisions.

Designed by academics from the LSE, which is ranked #8Footnote 1 in the world for accounting and finance, this degree is heavily informed by current research, policy activity and global financial events. The maximum registration period is six years, but you should aim to complete your programme within three to four years.

Admissions

The University of London encourages applications from students who have the motivation and qualifications to successfully undertake its online programmes.

As part of your online application, you must submit the following documents in English:

  • Personal statement

  • Verified identification

  • Complete/incomplete postschool certificates or transcripts

Prospective students must also meet the University of London’s general entrance, mathematics and English language requirements.

In order to give the Admissions Panel a more holistic understanding of your qualifications, you may also submit a résumé or CV, work references, standardised test scores and professional certificates.

About your qualifications

When you graduate with a degree, diploma or certificate from the University of London, you receive two important documents: your Final Diploma (the physical parchment you receive at graduation) and a Diploma Supplement. These documents are proof of your dedication and knowledge in your field and can be presented to future employers. 

The Final Diploma:

This document indicates that you were awarded a University of London degree, diploma or certificate. It also lists the name of the London School of Economics and Political Science as the member institution that developed the syllabus and provided assessment.

The Diploma Supplement:

This document describes the nature, level and content of the programme that you have successfully completed. It also includes the transcript of courses taken, marks achieved and overall classification.

Frequently asked questions

Prospective students must meet the University of London’s general entrance requirements and have completed mathematics to UK GCSE level (grade) 5 or equivalent. You can take the LSE Maths Essentials course if you do not yet meet the maths requirement.

Yes, your programme schedule can be flexible to your chosen study hours. However, it is suggested that you complete the programme within three to four years. The maximum period of registration is six years.

Both BSc and BS are abbreviations for bachelor of science. The difference lies in the country of the institution – the US tends to use BS, while the United Kingdom, Canada, India, Australia and other countries tend to use BSc. Additionally, BS degrees are usually four-year programmes, while BSc programmes can be completed in three years.
